In an effort to prevent vision loss, our Vision Wellness and Preventive Services provide access to free eye care in our community.
Early Vision Screening
ABVI staff use state-of-the-art equipment to conduct vision screenings on children between the ages of six months and five years old in child care centers. The screenings identify children at risk of vision loss from amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (misaligned eyes), or refractive errors.
Vision Care for Kids
School-age children who fail a vision screening by a school nurse receive free comprehensive eye exams from volunteer eye doctors if they have no health insurance. If prescribed, ABVI provides eyeglasses free of charge.
