2-1-1/LIFE LINE has been a Certified Crisis Center by the American Association of Suicidology since 2003.  AAS certification assures that the services provided by our hotline adhere to current, nationally recognized “best practice” standards of care, and a commitment to quality improvement.

The term crisis means many different things to different people.  Services for crisis can range from addressing the needs of the homeless, family conflicts, emotional difficulties, and suicide attempts to large scale disaster response.  2-1-1/LIFE LINE strives to provide the best service it can for all types of crisis from counseling the caller to referring the caller to a service that can provide a greater range of services to suit the individual’s needs. Whatever your crisis is, if you need someone to talk with, we're here when you need us.

2-1-1/LIFE LINE is a member of the National Suicide Lifeline Network and the National Hopeline network, covering calls to these national suicide hotlines for the 585, 315, and 518 area codes in NYS as well as providing back up to the rest of upstate New York. 

Veterans Hotline logo

2-1-1/LIFE LINE has partnered with the National Veterans Suicide Hotline to provide all of their new hotline workers with training on crisis intervention, suicide assessment and intervention.  2-1-1/LIFE LINE provides additional technical assistance to the National Veterans Suicide Hotline and serves as one of the back-up centers taking overflow calls from the Veterans Hotline.

Crisis Intervention Related Services Offered by 2-1-1/LIFE LINE:

  1. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) Training:  ASIST workshops are for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Over 750,000 caregivers have participated in this two-day, highly interactive, practical, practice-oriented workshop.
  2. Contracted 24-hour hotline services.
  3. After-Hours Services for Mental Health and Human Services Agencies by Contract.
  4. Crisis Intervention Training for professionals and the public.
